December 29, 2014~ "All Men Have Their Fears but Those Who Face Their Fears with Faith Have Courage as well."

Well I first have some things...so my new P.O box is 1123, Belize City, Belize Central America in case anyone wants to send anything. Also I was thinking and I really feel like I am missing something I need or want I should say... but send more pens and remember "nice" ties haha. alright done with that.

Sounds like you guys spent the week having some more fun. Well we had a good rest of the week felt like it flew by! We were able to get everyone we wanted to church but we got some! The Funes family came so that was nice but we still are working with the others so they can all be baptized on the 18th! I had to speak in church, we did tithing settlement, and taught every class in church ...it was a busy busy Sunday and that was just the morning! The Rinderknects visited with their son and daughter and their families and also a couple from the states that were just on vacay. Sadly that made up most of the attendance and we are still really low with people coming to church. I hear its because of the time of the year but that's still not an excuse! Talking to the Rinderknects son and son-in-law I feel so much better about how I am doing. They said their missions were a lot easier (from Mississippi and Guatemala) but still they didn't have tons of success in baptisms ...actually their son said the mission would usually only baptize 20 a year so I feel a lot more blessed and knowing that I shouldn't feel bad or like I am doing something wrong. We had some bad news come yesterday though, Elder Ford is leaving on emergency changes. He lived with us and was a really cool guy and he didn't wanna leave.  I feel bad but know that God's will isn't always ours. I'm enjoying the moment because you never know when my time could be up as well! That is my small email for this week! Happy New Years errbody!!! Love you Mom, Family, and Friends and be safe dont drink!

December 22, 2014~"Be Somebody that makes Everybody Feel Like a Somebody"

1. So what are the details on the Skype call for this week?
So we will be skyping on the 25th in the afternoon around 4 or 5 because we are going to another island to eat with the senior couples wooo!

2. Do all 4 of you guys share the same house or in companionships?
Yeah we share a house

3. What language do they speak on the island?
They speak some island language....haha jk... no they speak English, Kriol, and Spanish... a little more Spanish than Santa Elena but its mostly English

4. Who are the other Elders that are with you?
The other Elders are Elder Ford from Cali and Elder Gonzalez from Las Vegas..I think?

Yes I have met the Tun Family... thats cool... the only thing is the packages I think go to Belize City and we won't go there till next year... also they charge a little more to take out packages than they did in Cayo

The new area is going great.  We had 2 investigators come to church and we could be having a Baptism this coming week! We have a lot of potential so it would help to send some prayers this way! I do see a lot more of Stin... haha don't know if thats a good or bad thing! I think its crazy how everyone is starting to come home ...when does Kalen Larsen end?

So  I will keep my letter short for this week but we had our Mission Christmas party.  It was really fun and nice to see some friends! haha Elder Paulson wants to come to the island so bad! We worked hard and the attendance in church went up a little and we had investigators too. If all works out we could Baptize 3 families... the Stain family, the Funes family, and this other guy named Hubert and his girl but they have to get married and she wants to get married in March. The guy is an active non member haha.  He is  really cool and I hope I am here to witness his baptism. I really don't have anything else to say... sorry but we'll talk all kinds of soon! Tell everyone I wish them a MERI KRISMOS and I love them! Tell Jimmy I'm happy to hear he's still going strong too!

December 15, 2014~ "May Your Character Preach More Loudly Than Your Words"

1.  Dad and I were wondering how many AP's there are...Are there any AP's in Belize or are they just in El Salvador?
There are 4 in El Salvador and 2 here in Belize... they just added the 2 here in Belize

Wow Nate Buchanan is done?! Crazy that time is starting to come up for everyone.  I was just talking to Stin about that this past week.  Sucks to hear about Stocks team losing but I'm glad he got to see and experience a winning and successful team... it always makes things better and sets a good standard. People slacking in school huh? Sounds like I need to be there to show everyone up haha... just kidding.  I feel like I know nothing and I'm glad I am not having to deal with finals and all that crap yet. Well I will tell you about my week now...

So where I am at I feel alone...separated from everyone almost like I'm stranded on an island on my mission...oh wait thats because I am on an island!!!!!!!! My new area is San Pedro the island area here in Belize!!!! It is so cool ..I don't even know where to begin!

First, we ride a boat to the island just about every week... its like an hour and a half off the mainland. Second its beautiful here! There are also tons of tourists and cars are rare... all they use here are golf karts... but we still use bikes unfortunately haha. You can see the beach from the house and just about anywhere we are at... its so cool! Our house is super nice too.  I have one of the nicest in the mission.. we even have a nice oven! The downside is we have a washing machine and I have to wash my own clothes now...hahah. There are 4 missionaries here and they are all cool guys. My comp is Elder Tello from Guatemala City. He speaks good English and is the first latino on the island in a long while. He is really cool and we get along perfect! If you wanna try and contact his mom she also speaks English and served a Mission in the States. Here is really the only place I could have gone other than Santa Elena and been happy... God knows me too well! So I will be here for 8 weeks because this change is a long change so I'm happy to know I am in good circumstances! Also Stin is in my zone so I see him every week and Elder Purser is also! We have good potential too to baptize some people though it is hard because its pretty much known as Sin Island. The branch is struggling but haven't all of the branches I have been in? Just means MORE WORK! I'm super excited to work and be here. Sorry I don't have a lot of pictures.  I will get a lot more next week! Also we had our branch Christmas party and had like 100 people there! It was really fun but the downside is like none came to church the next day...we will work on that. Before I close... the "senior missionaries" here are named the Aldons. They are super chill but they aren't your average senior couple because they live here on the island and never intended to serve actually. They are members who moved here and Pres Hintze has asked them to help out in the mission so they are the senior missionaries here and didn't have to leave home. They also live in the States,  Elder Aldon was the creator of SkullCandy headphones actually haha! But they went back to the States yesterday and told me they will be passing through Layton on their way there and their way back and if you guys wanted to send anything with them they are more than happy and will be coming back with empty suitcases so they will have room. I thought it might be a good opportunity to use to get some things that I maybe need like material things. I'll send you their info so you can contact them but they don't come back here till 15th of Jan. So I will keep you updated on that ok? Thanks for the support guys...I love you Mom and peeps!

December 8, 2014~"The First Gift of Christmas Wasn't Found in a Store, but in a Stable"

1.  So this week is transfer week?
Yes..I hear I have changes...

2. Do they decorate for Christmas there?
Yes they do!!!

Well the "cold" has kinda passed now ...back to di heat! With the Christmas video we have always seemed to find a way to show it either with what the people have or with our DVD player that is kinda ghetto but does the job. Sorry to say I have heard word that I am leaving...which makes me really sad...I'm gonna miss this place and everyone including the missionaries here.

Sweet to hear about Stocks team.. semis!!! woo!! And the patrarchial blessings WOOOO!!! Thats awesome for them now they need to remember to follow their blessings! Happy to hear everyone is doing good and healthy ...I'm doing good too! Unfortunately not in the weight category. We have been so busy sometimes we forget to eat... no joke. But im gonna work on that so don't worry...Its just there never is enough time in the day!

My week was great! Sad to say though it will be my end to Santa Elena...I am happy to say I have really helped changed this place... not to be boastful but this week we had 85 in church... good way to end on that number too haha. Here has really changed me in a lot of ways and I have learned so much. Sucks leaving areas ...it really does...at least for me because I have been so blessed to have awesome places...I just don't want that streak to end..Not too much to comment on in details... maybe stories for after the mish haha.. just too much to type not enough time. I do wanna share an experience I had yesterday...During the Christmas Devotional I had the coolest thing happen... during I think the second hymn and I don't know why it happened but I felt Grandma Cleverly's presence while I was pondering about things. Why? I have no idea but it was so cool..I felt such a comfort and the Spirit so strong that she was proud of me and wanted me to know that she is always helping me along the way and always has been... after that I realized the only chair open in the room was the one next to me and there were a good amount of people, I felt like she was sitting by me the whole devotional!!! Then last was during the hymn Silent Night...I don't know if you guys were watching it but Mom I felt that in that moment you were thinking of me and I was thinking of you guys and I felt so blessed to be who I am and know all the people cheering me on at home. Sorry to get baggy and all but wanted to share those little experiences. Hope you guys did listen to the devotional... it was awesome! I know wherever I go its where God wants me to go...I just have to find out why. Pray for me though guys please! I'm thankful for all you guys and love you! Especially you Mom! See ya!! Hope I didn't forget something!!!

December 1, 2014~"It's Not What We Have in Life But Who We Have That Matters"

1. So I got pictures from the members that you ate Thanksgiving with.  That was nice of them to send them.  So where are they from?  Where do they live when they live here in the U.S.?
They are from Texas.

2. I know why you didn't write last Monday but why did you write Wednesday and not Tuesday?
Because the APs came and worked with us.

3. Did I do good on the ties that I sent?  I know how picky you are and was hoping the color and designs were good.
Yeah...  I have been getting compliments on all the ties so I guess you did an alright job haha

4.  When do transfers happen this month?
I think the 8th of December

It was a fun Thanksgiving ...the last one on the mish! It was actually chilly here the whole week! haha I am gonna die when I get back because it was like 70 with light rain and I was cold! Me and Elder Hiatt were loving the weather though because it stayed that way pretty much the whole rest of the week haha.  We joked how it is like snow for us. Everyone else hated it though.  When we had people pray... almost every single one of them prayed for the weather to change hahaha.

I did receive the package from G-pa... it was huge!! I was surprised too because I didn't think I would have it yet and we stopped by to get Elder Hiatt's package and they said I had one too....it had come in like an hour before I got there! So I'm pretty spoiled for the holidays now haha...I should be set for awhile!

So its weird because I don't have to explain a whole weeks worth of things that happened because I wrote on Wed last week so it will be shorter. We have decided to start finding new people because the ones we have just don't want to progress. Yesterday we found a cool young couple who are actually responsible for their kid and have good jobs so we hope that we can continue to teach them! We have been teaching with that new Christmas video... actually we are trying it out.... it is just hard because some people don't have the means to see it so we are gonna bring a DVD player around to do so.. but its a great message! Other great things that happened this week was the sisters had another baptism of this cool 9 year old kid and also we had 83 people in church which means its still growing!

I wish I had more to say but I got nothing! We hope we can do work this week since its the last full week of the change. I really hope I stay here for another change with Elder Hiatt... there is just so much work to do and I love being here.  The situation just seems too good for me to leave! So I'm praying I stay! I hope you guys enjoy your 1st day of Christmas time and don't forget to stay warm! hahaha ...love you mom and peeps!
